This year’s Show was chaired by Beth Collier and Mike Peppers - who did an outstanding job! We exhibited 96 scapes for the Horticulture division and 12 lovely displays for the Design division. We also brought in 150 clumps (mostly Stout or Award of Merit winning cultivars) for sale to the public.

The Horticulture Division section winners were: Section 1 (extra-large): “Big Flat Floozy” from Jerre Threatte; Section 2 (large): “Jared Timothy Bell” from Jerre Threatte; Section 3 (small): “Coffee to Go” from Tom Ellison; Section 4 (miniature): “Texas Cherry” from Tom Ellison; Section 5 (double, multiform, polymerous): “Gerrie Frankenberger” from Jerre Threatte; Section 6 (spider): “Laughing Skies” from Michael Peppers; Section 7 (unusual form): “Ogeechee Boss Lady” from Jerre Threatte; and finally Section 9 (seedling): Skottie O’Mahony.

Congratulations to all of the winners and thanks to all of the volunteers who helped stage the Show!

Zilker daylily bed maintenance

Despite our best efforts, including solarizing and replanting, an infestation of nutsedge continues to be a big problem for these display beds. Thanks to the (very) hard work of Janice & Don Heiskell, Beth Collier, Tom Ellison, Suzanne & Gary Adair, and Jennifer Renner, the beds had a total makeover in time for the Show. Huge thanks to each of them - this was certainly no small task!

John Turrentine, VP Programs, North Texas Daylily Society, has created a very informative PowerPoint program titled "What is the AHS?" John wanted to share this program with the other Region 6 clubs, so he made the file available in PDF format. Ray Houston has posted it to the Region 6 website for all to share.

The file can be accessed from the website menu by selecting HistoryAHS & Region 6 History, or use the link: http://www.ahsregion6.com/history.htm
